Coverage Provided by Flood Insurance: In the unfortunate event of a flood, your National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policy extends coverage to address direct physical damages to your property and possessions.

Inclusions of Your Policy: Acquiring flood insurance serves as a safeguard for your cherished belongings. The NFIP furnishes two distinct forms of coverage—building coverage and contents coverage—to provide comprehensive protection for your residence and personal effects. Here are instances of what receives coverage through NFIP flood insurance:

Building coverage safeguards:

• Electrical and plumbing systems
• Furnaces and water heaters
• Refrigerators, cooking stoves, and permanently installed appliances like dishwashers
• Permanently installed carpeting
• Permanently installed cabinets, paneling, and bookcases
• Window blinds
• Foundation walls, anchorage systems, and staircases
• Detached garages
• Fuel tanks, well water tanks and pumps, and solar energy equipment

Contents coverage shields:

• Personal belongings like clothing, furniture, and electronics
• Curtains
• Portable appliances like microwaves and portable air conditioners
• Valuables like artwork and furs (up to specified limits)
• Certain kinds of debris removal

Exclusions from Flood Insurance: In assessing coverage, the root cause of the flooding becomes pivotal.

Flood insurance undertakes to compensate for damages that are a direct result of flooding. In simpler terms, a flood denotes an overflow of water onto typically dry land, impacting two or more acres of terrain or two or more properties.

For instance, if damage arises from a sewer backup caused by flooding, it qualifies for coverage. However, if the sewer backup doesn't stem directly from flooding, the resultant damage isn't covered.

   • This includes:
     • Temporary Living Expenses
     • Replacement Cost of Contents
     • Coverage for Basement Contents, Unattached Structures, and Pool Repair & Refill

1. Elevation Certificate (EC)
   • Not required

1. Waiting Period
   • No waiting period for real estate closings.
   • A waiting period of 10 days applies otherwise.
